Description

Soft, buttery, and packed with mozzarella, these cheesy garlic rolls are the perfect savory side for pasta night, soup season, or weekend gatherings. They’re simple to prepare and bake into fluffy, golden spirals filled with garlic and melty cheese.

Ingredients

1 pound bread dough, thawed

1/4 cup salted butter, softened

1 teaspoon minced garlic (or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided

1 teaspoon chopped parsley (fresh or dried)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Place the thawed bread dough on a clean surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 14 × 10 inches.
  3. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  4. Sprinkle the garlic over the butter, spreading it out as needed.
  5. Add 3/4 cup mozzarella, 3 tablespoons Parmesan, and the chopped parsley over the dough.
  6. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  7. Using a serrated knife, slice the log into 9 equal pieces.
  8. Arrange the rolls in the prepared baking dish, leaving slight space between each one.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  10. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the center roll is fully baked.
(Internal temperature should reach 190°F for best accuracy.)
  11. Let cool for a few minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Baking Pan Options: A 9×9 square pan is ideal. A 7×11-inch pan also works.
  • Dough Options: This recipe also works with a 13.8-ounce tube of refrigerated pizza dough, though the texture will be slightly different.
