Description
This creamy and refreshing iced vanilla matcha latte combines the earthy flavor of ceremonial matcha with the sweet, comforting taste of vanilla. Perfect for a quick pick-me-up at home or a summer refreshment, this drink is easy to make, naturally sweet, and better than store-bought versions.
Ingredients
2 cups milk of your choice (whole milk, oat, soy, or any nut milk)
½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste
2 teaspoons honey (or maple syrup/simple syrup, adjust to taste)
2 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
4 tablespoons hot water (about 170°F / 80°C)
Ice cubes
Instructions
-
Froth the Milk:
Pour the milk into a frother or use a handheld whisk to create a light, creamy froth. Stir in the vanilla bean paste and honey until well combined. If using sweetened vanilla syrup, omit extra honey. -
Prepare the Matcha:
Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove any clumps. Add a little hot water and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk or electric frother until smooth and frothy. Gradually add the remaining water while whisking to reach a creamy consistency. -
Assemble the Latte:
Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes. Pour the frothed vanilla milk until about three-quarters full. Slowly pour the matcha mixture on top to create a beautiful layered effect. Stir gently before drinking or enjoy the visual layers as they are.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness according to your taste. Honey, maple syrup, or flavored syrups all work well.
- For the best visual effect, pour the matcha slowly over the milk to maintain layers.
- This recipe can be doubled or halved easily.
- Using an electric frother can create extra creamy, café-quality milk.
