Description

This Cranberry Pecan Cheese Ball is the ultimate festive appetizer — creamy, tangy, and loaded with flavor. With only five ingredients, it’s quick to prepare and perfect for the holidays. Serve it with crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies for a stunning centerpiece that everyone will love

Ingredients

For the Cheese Ball

16 oz cream cheese, cold (two 8 oz packages)

1 cup dried cranberries, chopped

½ cup green onions, sliced (about 34 onions)

4 oz sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 cup)

For the Coating

⅓ cup chopped pecans, toasted if desired

⅓ cup dried cranberries, chopped

⅓ cup green onions, sliced (or use chopped parsley for a milder flavor)

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Mix:
In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the chopped cranberries and green onions, and mix until evenly distributed. Add the shredded cheddar and mix again until fully combined.

  2. Shape:
Transfer the cheese mixture onto a large sheet of plastic wrap. Use the wrap to form it into a ball or log shape, pressing gently to compact the ingredients.

  3. Coat:
On a large plate, combine the pecans, cranberries, and green onions. Roll the cheese ball or log in the coating mixture until it’s evenly covered on all sides.

  4. Chill & Serve:
Serve immediately, or refrigerate for a few hours (or overnight) for the best flavor and texture. Serve with crackers, pretzels, crostini, or sliced vegetables.

Notes

  • Chop the cranberries finely: This helps distribute their tart sweetness evenly throughout the cheese mixture.
  • Toast the nuts: Toasting the pecans adds a deeper, richer flavor. Let them cool before chopping and coating.
  • Make ahead: Prepare up to 2 days in advance, wrap tightly, and refrigerate.
  • Serving idea: Surround the cheese ball with a mix of sweet and savory dippers — think buttery crackers, apple slices, and crunchy breadsticks.
  • Shape options: Split the mixture into two smaller cheese balls for multiple parties or easy portioning.
